🏠Robbie Fowler's £30m property empire
Robbie Fowler tripled his net worth after retirement. We explore how!
Robbie Fowler is one of the greatest strikers in Premier League history. His playing CV is nothing to be sniffed at:
163 Premier League goals (8th on the All-Time List)
26 caps for England
Nike athlete his entire career
One of the greatest goalscoring celebrations ever
However, it wasn’t until 2005 when the Sunday Times valued Fowler’s net worth at £26m that the wider British public took notice of his off-the-field achievements.
Through a series of strategic investments, and a brilliant introduction from Manager Graeme Souness, Robbie Fowler and wife Kelly, have amassed a sizeable property portfolio valued in excess of ÂŁ30m.
The crazy part is Fowler’s playing career began in 1993 for Liverpool. His first professional contract was £220/week. After an incredible first season at Liverpool he earned himself an extension which took him to £500/week!
Despite his fame and his fortune growing at a rapid rate, Fowler was humble with his ascent.
Nothing has changed in my routine, except when I got to the Chinese to get my Fried Rice, it’s wrapped in a newspaper with my name on it!
The timeline for Fowler is as follows:
1995: Introduced to George Scott, a financial advisor who becomes Fowler’s agent and business partner
1998: Bought a house for his mother, father and for himself
2001: Signs for Leeds for ÂŁ11m
2005: Property Portfolio crosses 100 units
In the late 90s footballers spending on investments was not commonly seen. It still isn’t now!
An example? Fowler and his associates famously explored an investment opportunity on a property in Hadlee Wood, London in the early 2000s. Two days later, the British newspapers were rife with speculation of an imminent transfer from Liverpool to London-based Arsenal!
Fowler who has done a series of presenting gigs since his retirement and is currently managing Al Qadsiah FC in the Saudi Arabian football league is often very coy about his business ventures.
He also gives a lot of kudos to his wife:
She’s the boss. She did it all whilst I was playing. Basically, I go out and get the money.
After famously buying 6 houses next to each other on the same street in Oldham, Man City fans would often sing “we all live in a Fowler house” from the terraces in matches.
At his financial peak, Fowler was making circa.ÂŁ30,000/week. What he has achieved since is nothing short of remarkable.
In 2020, Fowler was granted planning permission to build a 325-unit apartment block in Liverpool which marks his first foray into property development.
The units are set for completion in 2021 are suffering a setback due to COVID-19.
Retirement, was just the beginning for Robbie and Kelly.
Dillon Danis appeared on Piers Morgan’s show last week where he announced that the Prime Card at Manchester Arena achieved 1,300,000 PPV buys.
The event was reasonably priced at ÂŁ19.95 via DAZN (usual Sky Box Office PPV cards are ÂŁ26.95) and went without a hitch from a production standpoint.
Some back of the envelope maths suggest that the event generated ÂŁ25,935,000 from PPV purchased alone - a substantial cume from a set of YouTubers!
The Arena was absolutely packed too with a complete sellout of the 17,000 arena.
Whilst the fights themselves weren’t the most entertaining, the entire event was a masterclass in marketing from all involved.
Interestingly enough Danis also said he did not get paid a percentage of the PPV, which he felt annoyed about.
To see how this PPV total compared to other British Boxing events in history, take a look here - you’d be surprised how close this card is to the top!
See you next week!
