🎉 Reviewing my 2024 Sports Predictions
On January 1st 2024 I made three predictions. Today we will see if I was close on any of them!
What a year!
This year this platform has grown to:
18,600 YouTube Subscribers
11,600 Instragram Followers
8,400 TikTok Followers
1025 Newsletter Subscribers
This is not my full-time job so building this community alongside a time-intensive “9-5” is very warming to me. I truly appreciate every single one of you.
On THIS post on January 1st 2024 I made three sporting predictions this year, so it’s time to see if I was on the money.
Prediction #1: Tyson Fury and Anthony Joshua will NOT fight each other in 2024
I am grinning here on this one. I do not need to spend much time here but in my prediction I went on to say:
“I want to be wrong but my guess is Mid-2025.”
Everything is right on track… 😏
Prediction #2: One of the clubs in the five major leagues will file for bankruptcy
I was wrong here but my word did some clubs get close. Everton are just out of their financial woes. Lyon are even deeper into their financial woes and Inter Milan are now owned by Private Equity!
A club did not go bankrupt but there are several teams in severe dire straits. The lesson here is that football teams in the top leagues are assets that most people will acquire in bad situations rather than being “allowed” to descend to bankruptcy.
Lesson learnt.
Prediction #3: The landscape for sports media in the UK takes several more strides forward.
This was a bit of a shit prediction because its difficult to measure. However with Gary Lineker taking the steps to build his media empire. Women’s football taking significant strides forward in the UK. And Netflix making dominant plays into the arena of sports I think we can safely say the sports media landscape has developed in 2024.
I see even further strides in 2025 too!
I have thoroughly enjoyed writing you all each week this year. I am taking the next few weeks off so I will be back on January 6th with a return to form.
Have an amazing Christmas and New Year.
